Solace is an original abstract painting by Connie D. Phillips, accompanied by its finalized companion poem of the same title. Created through layered palette knife work and restraint, the painting and poem were completed together and are presented exactly as finished. This work is grounded, quiet, and complete. The image and text stand side by side without explanation, allowing space for stillness and private reflection. Solace In quiet deep The woods wait for me There the shadows wrap me In a cloak of solace And whisper words That tell me the world will pass And leave me alone With my darkness — Connie D.
