About the Artist

Connie D. Phillips
Native American Artist
Connie D. Phillips is a Choctaw artist, poet, and writer based in southeastern Oklahoma. Working primarily in oil, acrylic, watercolor, and mixed media on both canvas and copper, she creates bold, narrative works that explore themes of survival, resilience, identity, and transformation. Phillips often pairs her paintings with original poems or songs, fusing visual and literary art into unified statements that challenge silence and reclaim voice.
Her work has been exhibited across the region, including solo exhibitions at Gallery 259 and The Landing in Hochatown, Oklahoma, and Arts on Main in Fayetteville, Arkansas during the Native November exhibition. Additional exhibitions include the Choctaw Nation Headquarters, the Choctaw Nation Casino, the Choctaw Nation Cultural Center, and Oyoho Fine Art.
Phillips' creative practice is deeply rooted in her Choctaw heritage and in her commitment to storytelling as both personal testimony and cultural expression. Her series often center on women as warriors, survivors, and keepers of truth — figures that rise from shadows with strength, grace, and feral defiance.
Her work is collected nationally and is available through her website (conniedphillips.com), Pictorem.
